The Green Space Dark Skies project needed a broadcast camera crew to document one of the most ambitious mass-participation mountain artworks ever.
A multi-award-winning national arts and environmental project, brought to millions through film. This was a project with multiple moving parts — live performances, nightscape visuals, epic locations, storytelling and mass-participation — the challenge was to produce a film that captured both the spectacle of the event and the deeper human connection it generated.

The Approach
Wunner Film took a story-first documentary approach, working closely with Walk the Plank’s creative producers and BBC teams to shape content that balanced spectacle with meaning.
Every light on screen represented a person — a “Lumenator” — the filming approach was built around the idea that each participant was a vital part of the artwork, not just a visual element.
Production
Filming took place in some of the UK’s most environmentally sensitive locations, often at night and in challenging weather conditions. We combined:
- Handheld and gimbal work on the ground
- Multi-drone real time aerial filming
- Low-impact production techniques
- Night-time and low-light camera setups
- Mountain camera team management
